'Cookie Tour' Kicks Off Goodwill for Sussex County Holidays 2003!

A select group of Sussex County Bed and Breakfasts is hosting the Annual B&B Christmas Cookie Tour, Sunday December 7 from 1PM to 5PM. A self-guided tour takes participants from Inn to Inn. Each of the five inns will be decked out in all their holiday best and will offer their very own special holiday cookies and refreshments. All tour participants will receive a keepsake recipe at each Inn they visit.
Participating Inns are: Whistling Swan Inn, Stanhope; Brick Farm House, Sparta; Wooden Duck, Andover; Alpine Haus, Vernon and Apple Valley Inn, Glenwood.
At the Whistling Swan Inn, there are some extra surprises in store. The tour hostesses will be dressed in Victorian garb. Each guest that visits will have an opportunity to win a one-night stay at the Inn, dinner for two at one of four area restaurants and a cooking class at the Inn in January. In addition, the first 25 guests will receive a holiday memento from the Whistling Swan Inn.
All proceeds from the tour will be donated to Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network, a non-profit interfaith ministry. SCINH is an alternative to traditional shelters because overnight lodging is provided in 'host' congregations for one to two weeks at a time until families are able to move into their own homes. Fourteen local congregations take turns hosting the families on a rotating basis. Volunteers cook and share meals with guest families and provide companionship and support while professional staff provide case management.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at any of the participating Bed and Breakfast Inns either in advance or at the door. For more information or tickets, call Liz at the Whistling Swan Inn 973-347-6369 or visit www.whistlingswaninn.com or contact Anne Murphy at Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network, 973-579-1180.
