Welcome to our home, The Whistling Swan Inn. We live on a quiet, tree-lined street in Stanhope, a small town in the New Jersey Skylands.
The road leading here was a rather circuitous one. My love affair with the Victorian Era and, in fact, all things British, began when I read Jane Eyre in high school and led me to my first career as a public school English teacher. In the late nineties, I left teaching and took a job in the financial services industry where I could use my writing and teaching skills. My 14-year career in a corporate environment was rewarding, but after raising our two children, my husband, Tom, and I decided to take control of our future by owning our own business.
Our goal was to translate what we loved best: good food, entertaining family and friends, home renovation and decorating, into joyful work... and so, here we are in this peaceful little town nestled in the Kittatinny mountains.
Come relax with us on the veranda. Have a cup of coffee or a glass of sherry with us by the fire. The cookie jar is always full. When you come to our home, you are transported to the elegance of a bygone era, where for just a little while, you can have a respite from the pressures of daily life.
Hope to see you soon!
