Stanhope Town Council Honors Local Businesswoman
Stanhope mayor, Brian McNeilly, honored local businesswoman, Liz Armstrong for her part in contributing to the economic well being of Stanhope. Ms. Armstrong is co-owner and operator of the Whistling Swan Inn at 110 Main Street. The resolution stated:
WHEREAS, the Whistling Swan Inn, constructed in 1905, was restored to its turn-of-the century Victorian splendor in 1985 and converted into a nine room bed and breakfast; and
WHEREAS, the Whistling Swan Inn has served as a community resource for many years, providing quality Bed and Breakfast accommodations for visitors; and
WHEREAS, the Whistling Swan was recently named one of the Top Ten B&B/Country Inns in the United States and Canada by the Arrington Inn Traveler magazine, a quarterly publication for discriminating travelers; and
WHEREAS, being named one of the Top Ten is an honor bestowed on owners Elizabeth and Ronald Armstrong by inn-goers who voted for their favorite, finest and most luxurious establishment; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council wish to acknowledge the honor bestowed upon the Whistling Swan and to commend its owners for their hard work and the contribution their establishment makes by attracting and welcoming visitors to our community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Stanhope that they do hereby express their sincere congratulation to Elizabeth and Ronald Armstrong for having their inn, The Whistling Swan, being voted on the Top Ten B&B/Country Inns in the United States and Canada.
"We absolutely enjoy the feeling of community here in Stanhope. We are honored to play an active role in preserving one of the historical treasures of northern New Jersey.
