Chocolate Chip Cookies

Nothing says hospitality like homemade chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven. The cookie jar is always full. It will be nearly impossible to eat just one.

Servings: 5 dozen cookies


  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (165 degrees C).

  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

  3. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended.

  4. Beat in the vanilla and eggs, one at a time, until light and creamy. Stir into the sugar mixture.

  5. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended.

  6. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.

  7. Drop tablespoons full of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.

  8. Bake 12-14 minutes until the edges are golden.

  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
